November-December Update
It is hard to believe that we are in December already! The days seem to fly by so quickly. There are so many things to be thankful for as we trace the hand of God in our lives this year:

  • Joe came through a very difficult surgery and recovery time. He still has many physical challenges that he deals with on a daily basis but has managed to stay out of the hospital for a few months.
  • The launch of Love Them To Life has been very exciting. There are 3 groups currently using the curriculum Beside Still Waters: Discovering Peace in the Midst of Your Child’s Addiction, including the group that I am facilitating at America’s Keswick on Monday nights. As of this week, 28 women have attended the group, with the average weekly attendance of 12. There are so many hurting mothers who don’t know where to turn or what to do. The level of transparency and caring for each other has been a blessing to me. The topic this week was Guilt and Remorse – it is so easy to blame ourselves for choices we made that have hurt our kids and end up wallowing in the mire of guilt, when God wants us to experience freedom, peace, and joy.
  • We had the privilege of teaching two conferences this year in Oneonta, NY, at West Davenport Free Baptist Church. The first was The Exchanged Life Conference of GFI, which we team-taught with Dr. John Woodward. The second was the Walking It Out: Grace-filled Living in a Trouble-filled World conference that Joe and I put together and taught. Both conferences were amazing times of seeing God work in peoples’ lives. We are so grateful to the wonderful people of West Davenport Free Baptist Church and Pastor and Mrs Steve Estes for all of their hard work. We also participated in the GFI November Exchanged Life Conference in Pigeon Forge, TN, and each taught one of the sessions. Joe gave his testimony and taught on the important topic of Rejection. I taught the section on Healing for Damaged Emotions and had a very meaningful question and answer time following it.
  • Joe has been doing counseling at the America’s Keswick Colony of Mercy, filling in for chaplains who are on vacation or ill. God has equipped Joe in an amazing way to deal with the deep heart issues that the men need to recognize and then surrender to God in order to live a victorious life.
  • Joe continues to speak in churches, schools, and youth groups. He had a wonderful opportunity to speak in the Oneonta Christian School as well as a youth group in Morrisville, PA, recently.
As we look toward 2015, our ministry goals continue to be under the motto of "joining god where He is working." The following are areas that God has opened for us to pursue:

  • We will continue to expand our Love Them To Life network as God opens doors. We would also like to expand and improve the website to be more mothers whose children are in addiction.
  • Several ministries working in the field of addiction have invited us to visit and share our ministry with their groups. They are very interested in using the LTTL curriculum as they work with families and would like us to present it to their staff. The fact that these ministries are located in Florida is a bonus as we face another cold New Jersey winter!
  • We are working on developing a one-day seminar for friends and family members of people in addiction. As the addiction epidemic increases across the country (and the world), people do not know how to handle the pain of a loved one destroying their own life through drugs and alcohol. This seminar would incorporate the message of the Exchanged Life (Galatians 2:20) as the foundation.
  • We will continue speaking in churches, schools, and youth groups, as well as teaching conferences as God opens up opportunities to do so.
Prayer Requests

  1. For further opportunities to share the message of freedom in Christ from the bondage of addiction. If you would like to have us speak at your church or group, please email or call me at cherri.raws.
  2. For more churches to begin Love Them To Life support groups for mothers whose children are in addiction.
  3. For continued improvement in Joe’s health.
  4. For additional donors to support our ministry. Raising support has been very challenging. We still need additional supporters in order to reach our financial goals that would allow us to travel around the country and overseas as God opens up opportunities to do so.
