XL Project/ Love Them To Life
April, 2015 Newsletter
“Surfing the wave of grace” as we reach out to those in addiction
and to those who love them.
Joe is headed back to Guatemala on May 2nd – 9th to teach pastors how to counsel those in addiction using the message of the Exchanged Life (Galatians 2:20). He will be flying into Guatemala City and will be speaking at a church Sunday morning. He will then travel to Santiago, approximately three hours from Guatemala City, and will be meeting with the pastors from Monday through Thursday. He will be spending several days with a college friend in Guatemala City before flying back on Saturday, May 9th.
We would greatly appreciate your prayer for the following requests:
1. Health is a major concern for anyone traveling out of the country and especially for Joe. Please pray for protection, health, and endurance as he travels through some very rough areas.
2. Pray that the pastors will understand the message, despite the challenges of having the teaching translated from English to Spanish.
3. Pray that Joe will have no problem with connections, flights, and luggage.
4. Please pray for the remaining financial support to come in, as we are at approximately 50% of the needed funds.
Beside Still Waters: Discovering Peace in the Midst of Your Child’s Addiction has arrived! We are very excited to have the final product available to give to mothers who are hurting and don’t know where to turn as they deal with their child’s addiction.
The book is available from us for $10 plus s/h and can also be ordered from the major distributors such as Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. Please pray that it will be a tool to encourage moms and that more support groups will be started in local churches.
XL Project is now a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, recognized by the IRS and the State of New Jersey as a charitable organization. Our mission and our message has not changed, nor has our relationship with Grace Fellowship International. Dr. John Woodward from GFI is one of our board members and we are still considered field staff. Because of our status as independent contractors, we were having to pay self-employment taxes that were very difficult for us financially. Usually it takes approximately nine months for an organization to receive non-profit status; however, God had other ideas! We received it in one month!
All donations are tax deductible and will be sent out directly by XL Project from now on. Please pray about supporting this ministry to those in addiction and to those who love them. We are grateful for the faithful supporters we already have; however, further support is needed to reach our goal and to allow us to travel as needed, especially to Central America. Addiction is rampant in that area and very few resources are available to the pastors. One of our ministry partners made available to us the Spanish edition of Handbook to Happiness so that Joe can teach from it while he is in Guatemala. We could not do these things without your prayer and support.
